Whether it’s our understanding care professionals, the back-office family support team or our social care partners, you will never be alone.

"My father's carer was so amazing; kind, efficient, and capable of dealing with any situation. We had every reason to believe that our father was in excellent hands, and that was most definitely the case..."

Our recruitment guarantees

When matching care professionals with clients, we try to pair people who have things in common so they can bond straight away and build the foundation for a lasting relationship.

We only hire compassionate, caring and sensitive care professionals who truly want to make a difference in people’s lives.

All our care professionals undergo a DBS check, have their references reviewed and complete appropriate training courses, including moving and handlingemergency first aid and dementia training.

This guarantees that our care professionals are properly qualified to provide exceptional care.

Living at Homes principles

  • Our guiding principles are to keep our clients safework together to promote independence and keep them Living at Home independently.
  • Our staff are our greatest assets.

Treating them with appreciationsupport and dignity every step of the way builds trust and respect and is ultimately what drives high-quality care.

  • Though we use modern techniques and technology to improve the services we offer, we don’t forget the personal touch.
“At first, Mum was unimpressed with having carers, but she warmed up to them, and even told them she was going to miss them when the visits came to an end. Nothing was too much for the team of carers, given they were professional, well-trained and very kind.”

The Living at Home character

Living at Home clients receive care how and when they choose.

Our clients, and their families if necessary, are involved in every decision regarding their own care, including the creation of their unique care plan.

We know that providing our clients and their families with emotional and moral support is just as important as offering them professional knowledge.

As part of the services we provide, we maintain contact with worried family and friends.

Furthermore, we know how important it is for families and friends to be able to stay in touch with their loved ones, which is why we keep all of our clients’ daily records and communication logs in their homes so that our friendly office staff can quickly help with any problems.

The Living at Home care professional

Our care professionals are looking for more than just a job

They strive to make a significant difference in the lives of the people they care for.

We use a rigorous application process to ensure that only the best care workers join our staff.

This includes personal interviewscompetency testsreference checks and DBS background checks.

We also ask ourselves whether we would trust the candidate to look after our own loved ones. We only hire that person if we can say yes.

However, meeting our strict requirements is only the beginning.

Each employee goes through induction and learning course that walks them through Living at Home’s ideals and standards, which go above and beyond what is required by the Care Inspectorate Wales and Social Care Wales.

They learn things that will help them become better all-around care professionals, as well as how to deal with specific situations they might encounter in the course of their work.

We know how important it is for our clients, their families and our staff to have the best possible assistance and expertise available, which is why we have the Living at Home support team working behind the scenes.

Our managers and back-office team were recruited for their pleasant and personable ‘can-do’ attitude, as well as their professionalism and practical expertise.

They are fully aware of each client’s individual circumstances and keep a close watch on their progress, working together with the client, their loved ones and other healthcare professionals.

Care professionals need support too, which is why we make sure they have regular, private supervision sessions and 24-hour mobile phone access to an experienced member of the care team.

This way, help and guidance are always available.

Regulatory care services' guiding principles

The Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) registers, inspects and takes action to improve the quality and safety of services for the wellbeing of the people of Wales.

What the CIW do:

  • Carry out functions on behalf of Welsh Ministers to provide assurance on the quality and safety of services
  • Decide who can provide services
  • Inspect and drive improvement of regulated services and local authority social services
  • Undertake national reviews of social care services
  • Take action to ensure services meet legislative and regulatory requirements
  • Respond to concerns raised about social care and childcare services
“They may forget your name, but they will never forget how you made them feel”
Social Care Wales (SCW) is focused on wellbeing, with a vision of providing support to people who need it so they can live the life that matters to them.

What SCW do:

  • Develop the workforce so they have the knowledge and skills to protect, empower and support those who need help
  • Work with others to improve services for areas agreed as a national priority
  • Share good practice with the workforce so they can provide the best response.
  • Set priorities for research to get evidence of what works well
  • Provide information for the public and other organisations

SCW’s aim is to provide Wales with a high quality, skilled workforce large enough to meet the demands placed on it.

They want to do this by giving workers more confidence and encouraging them to improve social care, and registering all social care workers on the Register of Social Care Workers in Wales.

In contrast, the CIW regulates and inspects all aspects of Living at Home’s care services.

They will soon be rating all of our services, just as the CQC does in England.

Regulation is critical to keeping you safe and ensuring that the people who care for you are the best they can be.

You can rest easy knowing that our care professionals go above and beyond the call of duty, a quality that distinguishes us as more than just care workers.

The Living at Home Story

Joanne Abraham launched Living at Home in a small windowless office in Maesteg in 2021, with the goal of paying regular visits to people in the community who needed extra help at home.

After months of dedication and hands-on support to others, her dream, Living at Home, has evolved.

It is now a full-fledged care company that enables people in south-west Wales to maintain their freedom and independence by receiving care in their own homes.

Living at Home is close by and has the experience and expertise to help you with your home care needs.

You can find more information about Joanne’s story here.
